EU guidelines

IC-trace guarantees that your company complies with all local and EU legislation. We offer solid solutions for e.g. product identification (labelling), traceability of inbound goods (i.e. ingredients) and outbound goods (i.e. primary production, processing, warehousing, transport and retail sales) and automated data exchange with food safety authorities.

General requirements stipulated in food safety legislation

Some examples of IC-trace features

Art.14 – Food safety regulations

- rule 6 - When unsafe food is part of a batch or shipment of the same class or description, it is assumed all food content in this batch or shipment is unsafe for consumption, unless in-depth investigation does not result in any indications that the rest of the batch or shipment is unsafe.

IC-trace guarantees traceability to the smallest saleable unit, even within a single batch. Consequently, when a batch is stored at two different locations of which one proves to have issues, it isn’t the entire batch that needs to be destroyed. History of stock movements will indicate which products (boxes, pallets…) have been stored at that location. In short: IC-trace is a lot more precise than traceability at batch level.

Art.18 - Traceability -

- rule 1 – Food, animal feed, food producing animals and all other ingredients that are to be or can expected to be used in or processed into food or animal feed, have to be traceable at all stages of production, processing and distribution.

IC-trace gives insight in all details regarding the origin of raw materials and production activities. Thanks to the fact each production order and product receives a unique code, the process can be meticulously managed, as well as the entire supply chain.

- rule 2 – Both food producers and animal feed producers have to be able to trace who delivered their food ingredients, animal feed, food producing animals or other ingredients that are to be or can expected to be used in or processed into food or animal feed. They are held to implement systems and procedures that enable them to produce this information when requested by the authorities.

During automated or manual reception of goods, IC-trace correctly manages all officially required inbound registry data, including all details regarding all inbound deliveries.

- rule 3 – Food and animal feed producers must implement systems and procedures that establish to which companies their products have been delivered. This information has to be produced when requested by the authorities.

IC-trace makes it possible for a product to be tracked and traced, from when it is being produced to when it stops to exist (when it has been consumed), even considering the product makes several movements. The strength of IC-trace is the ability to, in case of emergency, identify products very quickly, to organise a recall with the automated recall procedure and to determine, when required, the source of contamination. IC-trace registers, processes and analyses all information.

- rule 4 – Food for human consumption or animal feed brought onto the market within the European Union or are expected to come onto the market, will be labelled or identified using relevant documents or information in accordance with applicable regulations within more specific legislation.

The shop floor programs of IC-trace contain a number of powerful and user-friendly program modules specifically aimed at labelling products. By using connected weighing equipment, you can automatically store correct weighing data, which avoids mistakes.
